The problem this solves
Acoustic criteria arrive from many directions: hotel operator standards, healthcare guidelines, classroom intelligibility requirements, LEED and BREEAM credits, and the plain commercial fact that buyers and guests do not tolerate hearing their neighbors. Meeting them is a design discipline: assemblies, junctions, glazing, doors, and finishes chosen with evidence and coordinated with the architect before details are frozen.

Airborne sound insulation design (STC and Rw) for partitions, facades, glazing, and acoustic doors. Impact sound isolation (IIC and LnT,w) for floor and ceiling assemblies. Reverberation time studies and treatment design. Room acoustic design for auditoria, ballrooms, conference rooms, classrooms, restaurants, and prayer spaces. LEED and BREEAM acoustics credits consultancy with in-situ verification testing. Deliverables match the project stage: criteria schedules at concept, assembly and detail specifications through design development, site support and verification during construction.
Method and standards
Insulation design and rating follow BS EN ISO 717-1 and 717-2; residential and building design criteria reference BS 8233:2014; reverberation work follows BS EN ISO 3382-2. Where a credit or an operator requires proof, our own commissioning team measures the built result per BS EN ISO 10140.
How this scope is appointed: directly by the developer or operator, or as a sub-consultant to the architect, from the concept criteria schedule through construction support.

What is Rw versus STC?
Two rating systems, European and North American, for airborne sound insulation. We design and test to both, matching whichever your specification uses.
Do LEED and BREEAM acoustics credits require testing?
Credit paths typically require verification. We provide the in-situ measurements and the documentation the assessor expects.
When should an acoustic designer join the project?
At concept, when a criteria schedule still shapes layouts and assemblies. After details freeze, the remaining options are fewer and more expensive.
